Corduroy has that even ribbing you recognise with your fingertips before your eyes catch it, and that is the whole point of the VelvetAura cushion cover. The parallel ribs form a raised stripe that catches the light differently depending on the angle, so the colour appears to shift slightly as the day goes on. It is a fabric that brings visual warmth, particularly from autumn through to spring, to an armchair or a sofa left a little too plain.
The format is out of the ordinary: 30 x 50 cm, a long rectangle that sits in front of your square cushions rather than beside them, or in the small of your back in a reading chair. Five colourways are available, fuchsia pink, yellow, brown, sage green and cream white. The last three stay soft and easy to combine, while the first two commit fully to colour and are enough to lift a dull grouping.
The concealed zip runs along one seam and disappears completely once the cover is on, with no visible placket or button. The tailored cut means the cushion stays full right into the corners instead of sagging at the edges. Sold without an insert, it washes in the machine on a gentle cycle, and the fabric takes regular washing and daily use without losing its shape.
