You slice a ripe tomato and the juice runs to the edge, then across the worktop. These acacia wood chopping boards have a juice groove milled all the way around, which catches the liquid before it leaves the board. Juice from a melon, a watermelon or a roast stays on the board, so your worktop stays dry through every stage of the preparation, from the first cut to serving.
Acacia is a dense wood, hard enough not to mark easily and yielding enough to spare the edge of your knives. The set includes three boards, one for each task: raw meat, vegetables, then bread or cheese, with no need to wash up in between. Each board has a hanging hole in one corner so it can dry upright, and the supplied wooden storage stand holds all three side by side with air between them.
Care is simple. Rinse with warm water and a mild soap, dry straight away with a cloth and stand the board in its holder. Once a month, a thin coat of food-safe oil keeps the wood nourished and helps prevent drying out or cracking. The boards are not dishwasher safe: prolonged heat and moisture damage the wood. Left out on the worktop, they also become part of the look of your kitchen.
