This metal agave reproduces the plant's distinctive silhouette, with its spread of pointed leaves, in a colour that holds through the season without fading. It stands on its own in a gravel bed, among ornamental grasses or beside a front door, and needs nothing more once it is placed. A strong form that gives the garden structure during the months when planting is sparse and the borders lack any shape.
A real agave wants heat, sharp drainage and often a winter under cover. Here it is the shape that matters, and metal delivers it in February as readily as in July, with no watering and no repotting. The weatherproof, rust-resistant metal is made to stay outside all year round. Six colours are available, from silver and gold through cyan, red, green and royal blue, and three heights, 27, 35 and 55 cm, to use singly or in a group.
No assembly: the sculpture comes out of the box and goes straight into the ground. Three pieces in different heights, loosely grouped, read far better than one alone in the middle of a bed. On gravel or paving, check it sits stable before walking away, since the tallest size catches the wind. The leaf tips are sharp by design, so keep the larger sizes back from paths where people pass closely.
