This wooden rainbow is one of those Montessori-inspired toys that stay around for years. Its seven colourful arches nest inside one another to form a lovely rainbow, and the seven figures included can sit underneath or on top. While playing, children handle different shapes, sizes and colours, and the toy is suitable from 12 months, ready to grow with them over time.
But the rainbow doesn't just sit on the shelf. The arches can be used to build bridges, mazes, castles or anything else the imagination comes up with, and the figures move into these creations. Along the way, children discover balance and the weight of each piece as they stack them. You can also lay the arches on a sheet of paper and trace around them with a pencil, turning playtime into drawing time.
The arches and figures are made of wood finished with non-toxic paint. Assembled, the rainbow measures 20 x 3 x 10 cm and the set weighs 515 g. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry straight away with a clean cloth, and avoid prolonged contact with liquids. A lovely birthday present that also decorates the room when tidied away on a shelf or a chest of drawers.
