This pocket MP3 player lets you listen to your own music without a phone in your hand. It has a 1.8-inch colour LCD screen and plays lossless audio files, so the sound stays as detailed as the file you loaded. Handy on a run, during the commute or anywhere you would rather leave your phone alone, with no calls or notifications cutting into the music.
A dedicated player does one job and keeps doing it all day. The controls sit under your thumb, so you can skip a track without looking, and the buttons still work through a coat pocket. The screen shows track names, folders and settings clearly. The menu is simple, with folders and playlists laid out plainly, and there is no account or sign-in to set up before you can press play.
The light format slips into a jacket pocket or a running armband. The battery recharges over USB, and a 3.5 mm headphone output takes your wired earphones. To load your music, connect the player via USB and drag your folders across, just as you would with a memory stick. Keep it in a dry pocket rather than the side pouch of a gym bag where drinks are stored. Four colours: metallic grey, black, green and blue. Simple, light and always ready to play.
