This hanging bird feeder tackles a problem every garden knows: seed that vanishes before the birds have even had a taste. Its weight-activated circular perch spins as soon as an animal that is too heavy lands on it and moves it away, while small birds, too light to trigger it, carry on feeding undisturbed. A tight-fitting metal cap stops the lid from being lifted and the long seed reservoir keeps the seed out of reach from above.
The construction is built to live outdoors: heavy-duty metal components protected by a powder coating that resists the weather and claws, and a clear polycarbonate reservoir that lets you see the seed level at a glance. Four feeding ports spaced around the round perch let several birds eat at the same time, and the feeder takes thin-shelled, high-fat seeds that appeal to a wide range of garden species.
With a capacity of about 2.3 kg (5 lb), you get long stretches of bird watching between refills, and seed wasted on the ground becomes rare. The lid simply lifts off and the wide-mouth reservoir makes both filling and regular cleaning easy. The feeder measures about 14 x 14 x 32 cm and weighs about 2.3 kg; it hangs from a branch, a pole or a hook.
